Sidebar & Navigation
The Sidebar & Navigation settings page controls what the left sidebar looks like for staff roles (owner, manager, teacher, and other staff positions). Student and parent portals are unaffected by anything on this page — their navigation is controlled separately.
Open it from Settings → Sidebar & Navigation.
Sidebar layout
Section titled “Sidebar layout”Choose how the sidebar organises its navigation:

| Classic | The default. Every section (People, Academics, Finance, Communication, and so on) is listed as its own collapsible block in the sidebar, top to bottom. |
| Grouped | A narrow vertical rail sits to the left of the menu with a few slots — Overview, People, Academics, and Others. Clicking a slot swaps the menu panel next to it to show just that group’s sections. Only the selected slot shows its label; the rest show an icon only. |
Grouped layout is a good fit for schools with a lot of enabled modules, where the classic list gets long enough that staff have to scroll to find what they need. It works the same way whether the sidebar is expanded, collapsed to icons, or open as a mobile drawer.

Hiding sections
Section titled “Hiding sections”Below the layout picker, every hideable section has a toggle. Turning a section off removes it from the sidebar for all staff roles at once — it doesn’t affect individual permissions, so someone who already has access to a hidden feature can still reach it via a direct link or the command palette; it just won’t show up in the sidebar.
This is useful for hiding modules your school doesn’t use (e.g. Library, or HR & Payroll if you run payroll outside Premeena) so staff aren’t shown navigation for features they’ll never open.
Click Save changes after toggling sections — the layout picker above saves immediately, but section visibility does not.
