Class Register
The Class Register (also known as the digital Libro de Clases) is a per-period log. For every scheduled class, the acting teacher records what was covered and who attended; once submitted, the entry is locked and can be reviewed and validated by staff with oversight permissions.
Who sees what
Section titled “Who sees what”| Role | What they see |
|---|---|
| A teacher with no extra grant | Only their own periods — fill in and submit entries for classes they teach, or classes they’re covering as a substitute. |
| Class Register: View permission | Every entry across the school — filter by class, subject, teacher or date, and see the compliance dashboard (scheduled vs. registered, by teacher and by class). |
| Class Register: Validate permission | Everything View gives, plus the ability to validate a submitted entry or send it back to the teacher with a note. |
| Owner / Manager / Partner | Full access automatically — including the Settings tab described below. |
The entry form
Section titled “The entry form”Each entry is tied to one period-occurrence (a specific class, subject, and date). It always has:
- Content covered — a short rich-text summary of the lesson.
- Attendance — for classes that take attendance period-by-period rather than once a day, each student is marked present, absent, late, or excused. Classes that take daily (homeroom) attendance instead show a notice here and attendance is managed from the Attendance module.
Six more sections are optional and can be hidden per school — see Form settings below:
- Activities / learning experiences
- Followed the lesson plan? (yes / partially / no)
- Observations — a private note, never shown to students or parents
- Additional sections — free-form labelled blocks (up to 10) for anything the fixed fields don’t cover
- Substitute teacher — who actually taught the period, when it wasn’t the usual teacher. If an admin already arranged cover in Substitutions, this is filled in automatically and can’t be changed from the register.
- Support staff present — co-teachers, special-ed support, assistants, or others in the room alongside the teacher
A Visible to students checkbox controls whether the lesson’s content (never the private Observations) is shown to students and parents once the entry leaves draft.
Submit and validate
Section titled “Submit and validate”An entry starts as a draft that the teacher can keep editing. Submit locks it — content (or activities) must be filled in, and the lesson-plan question must be answered if that section is shown for this school. A submitted entry is either:
- Validated by someone with the Validate permission, or
- Sent back to the teacher with a note explaining what needs fixing, which reopens it as a draft.
Compliance
Section titled “Compliance”Staff with the View permission get a Compliance tab: for any date range, how many scheduled periods actually got a register entry, broken down by teacher and by class, plus a weekly trend chart. Use it to spot teachers or classes falling behind on logging.

Section titled “Form settings”Open it from Class Register → Settings (owners, managers, and partners only).
By default every school shows all six optional sections described above. If your school doesn’t use some of them — for example, a school that never records a lesson plan or never has support staff in the room — turn them off here to keep the entry form shorter for teachers:
| Toggle | Hides |
|---|---|
| Activities / learning experiences | The activities field in the daily log. |
| Followed the lesson plan? | The yes/partial/no question — submission no longer requires an answer either. |
| Observations | The private teacher note. |
| Additional sections | The free-form labelled blocks. |
| Substitute teacher | The cover-teacher picker. Cover an admin already arranged in Substitutions is still recorded correctly either way — this only hides the teacher’s own ability to declare one. |
| Support staff | The co-teacher / assistant list. |
