Sections
A section is a homeroom class for a specific academic year. It belongs to a grade (e.g. “Grade 5”), has a unique name within the year (e.g. “Grade 5A”), and can be assigned a primary teacher and a timetable group.
Who can manage sections?
Section titled “Who can manage sections?”Staff with the classes:create or classes:edit permission. School owners have both by default. Grant them through a staff position under Staff → Positions.
Creating a section
Section titled “Creating a section”-
Go to Sections
Section titled “Go to Sections”In the school sidebar click Sections. You will see all sections for the active academic year.

Click Add Section
Section titled “Click Add Section”Click the Add Section button in the top-right corner.

Fill in the details
Section titled “Fill in the details”Field Required Notes Name Yes Full display name shown everywhere (e.g. Grade 5A). Must be unique within the academic year.Grade Yes The grade level this section belongs to. Grades are configured under Classes. Primary Teacher No The homeroom teacher. Shown on the section overview and used in reports. Timetable Group No Links this section to a period configuration. Required before you can build a timetable for the section. See Timetable Groups. -
Click Create Section. The section appears in the list and is ready for student enrolment and timetable setup.
Section detail page
Section titled “Section detail page”Click any section in the list to open its detail page. It has four tabs:

| Overview | See the section’s grade, primary teacher, assigned room, and subject list. Edit basic details from the Edit button in the top-right. |
| Timetable | View the timetable grid for this section. If no timetable group is assigned, the tab prompts you to assign one first. |
| Roster | Enrol students, view currently enrolled students with guardian contact, and update enrolments. See Section Roster. |
| Chat Room | A shared message thread for the section’s teacher and enrolled students. |
Editing a section
Section titled “Editing a section”From the section detail page click Edit. You can update the name, grade, primary teacher, and timetable group at any time.
Marking inactive / reactivating
Section titled “Marking inactive / reactivating”Click Mark as Inactive on the section detail page to close the section. This will:
- Unenrol all currently active students (they appear as “Not Enrolled” and must be manually re-assigned).
- End all teacher assignments for the section.
- Clear teacher assignments from all timetable entries (the timetable becomes read-only).
To bring a section back, click Reactivate. The section reopens as empty — re-enrol students from the Roster tab.
