Timetable

The Timetable page lets administrators assign subjects and teachers to every period slot for each section. Students see a read-only view of their own section’s timetable.

Premeena timetable grid showing Grade X Section A weekly schedule — subjects such as Science, Mathematics, English, Hindi and Social Science assigned to Periods 1–5 across Monday through Saturday, with the assigned teacher's name shown in each cell
  1. Go to Scheduling → Timetable in the school sidebar.

  2. Select a Timetable Group from the dropdown at the top. The working days and periods for that group are shown below.

  3. Select a Section from the section dropdown. Only active sections assigned to the selected group appear here.

  4. The timetable grid opens — rows are periods, columns are the working days of the group.

  5. Click any empty cell to add an entry. In the modal, choose:

    • Subject — the subject taught in this slot (required). The list holds the subjects assigned to this class as Core, plus any electives offered to its grade.
    • Teacher — the staff member responsible (optional, can be assigned later).
    • Notes — any extra information visible to the teacher.
  6. Click Save. The cell updates immediately with the subject name and teacher.

Each cell is unique per section × day × period — you cannot assign two subjects to the same slot. To update an entry, click the cell again and change the values. To remove it, open the cell and click Delete.

The Subject dropdown is empty, or missing subjects I know exist

Section titled “The Subject dropdown is empty, or missing subjects I know exist”

This is the most common report, and it is almost never a fault — the picker is scoped to the class, not to the school.

Your school has two separate lists:

ListWhereWhat it is
Subject catalogueSchool Structure → SubjectsEvery subject your school teaches anywhere.
Class SubjectsSchool Structure → Classes → EditWhich of those subjects this particular class takes. This is what the timetable offers.

So a school with twenty subjects in the catalogue will still see only three in the picker if only three are assigned to that class. To fix it:

  1. Go to School Structure → Classes.
  2. Open the class (Edit) and scroll to the Class Subjects panel.
  3. Tick every subject that class actually takes.
  4. Click Save Subjects, then reopen the timetable cell.

Subjects you tick are marked Core automatically. A subject left as Elective is deliberately absent from this picker — electives are scheduled through the Electives module instead, and appear in the dropdown tagged — Elective once they are offered to the grade.

No timetable groups have been created for the current academic year. Click Manage Groups, add at least one group, and configure its working days and periods before building the timetable.

A section does not appear in the Section dropdown

Section titled “A section does not appear in the Section dropdown”

Either the section is inactive, or it has not been assigned to the currently selected timetable group. Open the section under Sections → Edit and set its Timetable Group field.

The section may be inactive. Inactive sections have read-only timetables. Reactivate the section first, or ask an administrator to check the section status.
